I visited Ramen Jiro’s Ikebukuro branch, located about a 7-minute walk from the JR station’s ticket gates.
I came on the middle day of a three-day weekend. Even at 14:30, there were still about 20 people lined up. It’s a popular place.
I ordered the small ramen for 850 yen with less noodles. As usual, I chose the free toppings of vegetables, garlic, and fat.
The turnover rate was good, and it took about 45 minutes for my order to be served.
The total quality is not good.
Many customers ordered firm noodles, so as expected, mine were quite soft, which I personally love.
However, the soup was quite disappointing. About 10 years ago, Ikebukuro’s Jiro was famously not good, but it had improved over the last three years.
Today, though, it wasn’t tasty. There was too much oil, making it taste more like ‘oil flavor’ rather than soy sauce. This didn’t feel like ramen.
