3.0 Abura-soba Suzunoki 油そば鈴の木@Ikebukuro Sta. 池袋駅

This shop is a 8-minute walk from the nearest station, Ikebukuro Sta. 池袋駅.

It is the ramen shop with the most detractors in Japan. It has 1,200 reviews on Google Maps, and most of them are one-star reviews. The average rating is 1.9.

I ordered Kara-Mazesoba 辛まぜそば 890 yen and Oimeshi 追い飯 100 yen.

The total quality is .

The noodles are medium-thick and somewhat firm, with a rough texture. Personally, it’s not to my liking.

I think a slightly softer noodle would pair better with the soup.

The flavor is as rich as it looks, and quite spicy. If you think Nakamoto’s miso ramen is spicy, this is also on the spicier side.

I wouldn’t recommend it to those who can’t handle spicy foods.

I don’t think it’s an abura soba that appeals to everyone, but I don’t think the taste deserves a 1.9 rating in the reviews.

I went around 2:00 pm on a holiday, and there was still a line of about 15 people after I finished eating.

Apparently, they offer a full refund if the food isn’t tasty, but there seem to be stipulations, such as you have to say it within 5 minutes or it doesn’t apply if you’ve eaten more than half.

This seems to be causing trouble, so I think it would be better to discontinue that system. I think if they just compete on taste, the reviews would improve.

Next time I come here, I will eat Seabura-Shoyu 背脂醤油.

My logs: 2023.
