4.25 Ramen Maruta らーめん 丸太@Koganei 小金井

I visited Maruta, a Jiro-style ramen shop near Gakugei-daigaku.

It’s about a 25-minute walk from the nearest station, so it’s a Jiro-style ramen shop that you might need to take a bus to reach.

I ordered a mini ramen for 830 yen (with 200g of noodles) and added an egg and fish powder for 100 yen.

The noodles were quite rounded and had a good firmness, providing a substantial feeling of fullness.

The soup was a pork bone soy sauce base with a somewhat light flavor.

I usually don’t order it with extra sauce (‘karamé’), but for this soup, I felt it could have been a bit richer.

The chashu was incredibly delicious—tender and perfectly flavored. The vegetables were crisp; I personally prefer them a bit more wilted, but overall, it was good.

I ate the fish powder and egg mixed together, similar to sukiyaki. Personally, I might skip these additions next time. They were good for a change in flavor, though.

The 200g of noodles gave me an incredible feeling of fullness. Next time I visit, I’ll stick with the same 200g and add the free topping of ‘karamé’ for extra flavor.
